For Spencer

A friend reached out last minute yesterday evening and asked if we could cover the homecoming for a boy who was returning from Mayo Clinic to begin home hospice. I got the drone up and Kari stood with the crowd and filmed. It was such a sight to see our community rally to welcome him home. He had a full police and fire escort, and the streets were lined with friends and family.

I know the season ahead will be rough, mixed with sweet tears and beautiful moments. Our prayer is that God will give you all great comfort and peace as you walk through this time together. When we brought my father-in-law home for hospice just a few months ago, my wife said something that stayed with me, "We have to wade through these deep waters, don't we? It's only then we can truly treasure this gift of life and the time we have here."

Spencer told his family recently, "We'll keep fighting. I know you don't want to hear this, but I think I'm ready to go to Heaven." Such courageous words take your breath away. It reminded me of something I read recently..."Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses."

(1 Tim 6:12) Spencer, you have fought well young man. May God bless you and make His face to shine upon you. I hope this video brings you a smile.
