I sometimes wonder if Da Vinci took so long to finish the Mona Lisa because she just wouldn't give up her smile while she sat for him to paint her. Maybe he had seen her cut loose and he knew she had this amazing smile, but she was just too stoic or sophisticated to let him see it when he held a brush in his hand. He was stuck with that famous 'almost' smile that still captivates the world today. Poor fella. I almost feel bad for him. I felt like I was looking at a real-life Mona Lisa with Hayley, except when she cut loose with that smile, WOW, look out! She was radiant.
